COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Annual Great Pumpkin Giveaway
FITCHBURG—For the 14th year, Oak Bank sponsored the
Great Pumpkin Giveaway, welcoming families to its green
space to enjoy children’s games and activities, horse and
carriage rides, prizes, and refreshments. Kids also had the
opportunity to meet Bucky Badger, Maynard the Mallard,
and Henry the Vilas Zoo Lion. Families who made a cash
donation at the Oct. 18 event could pick out a pumpkin for
Halloween.
Each year, Oak Bank partners with a local non-profit
organization to be the recipient of all the cash donations
from the event. This year the bank has chosen Madi-
son4Kids, an area organization dedicated to local children
and their futures.

OCONOMOWOC—First Bank Financial Centre (FBFC)
donated $3,000 to the Oconomowoc Public Education
Foundation’s (OPEF) “Annual Ball, a masquerade in Sleepy
Hollow,” on Oct. 18. Attendees enjoyed dinner, drinks,
prizes, auctions, and music by The Boogie Men. Proceeds
will benefit OPEF’s education grants.
Nonprofits Receive $39,000, $18,000
MADISON—The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society won
the 2014 First Business Bank Invitational for Charity to
receive $39,000 thanks to local business leaders. Mike
Gustafson and Glen Weyenberg of SVA Certified Public
Accountants beat 24 other teams to win the “winner takes
all” First Business Invitational for Charity golf event at
Hawks Landing in September.
The First Business Invitational is a forum where local
business leaders compete for a local charity of their choice.
The event features two-person teams competing in a best
ball format. First Business Bank covers 100 percent of the
event costs. “This event combines two great qualities of
business leaders: the competitive spirit and the desire to
make a difference,” says Mark Meloy, President and CEO of
First Business Bank.
Over the past four years the event has raised a total of
$180,000 for area charities.
Additionally this year First Business Bank Milwaukee
held its inaugural First Business Invitational on the grounds
of the Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield. Some 30 area
business leaders competed in the event. Tim Wallen of MLG
Capital and David Nash won the invitational collecting
$18,000 for Lifesong for Orphans, a nonprofit that focuses
on the care of orphans around the world.
Banks Hold Shredding Events for Good
Causes
River Cities Bank hosted a Community Shred Day on
Sept. 10, in the parking lot at its Wisconsin Rapids office.
Community members brought their sensitive documents,
such as old tax returns, bank statements, and canceled
checks, to be securely shredded on-site by Shred Safe.
River Cities Bank donated $1 for every pound of paper
brought to be shredded to United Way. United Way and
River Cities Bank representatives were on hand to assist
with carrying boxes.
The Bank of Lake Mills held a similar event, raising $500
for Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek. The donation is
earmarked for the Rainbow Hospice Growing in Service
Capital Campaign, which will fund major improvements
to garden, parking, landscape, and laundry facilities at the
Inpatient Center.
Compliance Program Highly Rated by Wisconsin Community Bankers
For the twelfth straight year CBW is sponsoring the Community Bankers for Compliance Program (CBC)
in 2014 with Young & Associates, a nationally recognized compliance consulting firm that specializes
in community banking. The CBC program is CBW’s most highly rated educational program.
The CBC program includes quarterly full-day seminars based on the most recent industry and regulatory developments, access to the Young & Associates
toll-free compliance hotline, and a CBC Members OnlyWeb site hosted by Young & Associates that provides timely compliance information and tools.
The quarterly compliance seminars offer peer networking and include a regulatory update and a comprehensive discussion of one or more compliance
regulations. Attendees receive a compliance manual each quarter that is generally in excess of 200 pages that can and is used as a reference to the changing
regulations and as a training manual for other employees.
