McKenna Profiled
BROOKFIELD—James McKenna,
president and CEO of North Shore
Bank, was profiled in the Jan. 7, 2014
issue of the Milwaukee Journal Senti-
nel. When asked how the bank weath-
ered the Great Recession, McKenna
said, “We’re very conservative. We’ve
never done subprime lending. We
don’t believe in it. … If you’re going to
run with the bulls, you’re going to get
gored. We don’t run with the bulls.”
When asked about the current reg-
ulatory environment, he responded:
“It’s going to take size to compete
because of what’s descended on the
business, courtesy of our friends in
Washington. … It takes a certain size
to play because of compliance, inter-
nal audit, etc. The ironic part of the
plethora of new regulations is Dodd-
Frank was sold on the basis we’ve got
to deal with ‘too-big-to-fail.’ They’ve
only gotten bigger.”
