were relocated next to the lobby. A large check desk was removed; the
teller line was adjusted to give the lobby a feeling of spaciousness.
“After the remodel, we were able to increase our loan administra-
tion department from three desks in our lobby to a private area now
capable of growing to six workstations,” Schueler said. In addition,
the bank was able to add an extra conference room and an employee
training room, which can be utilized as an additional conference
room or expanded to include an employee lounge. When expanded,
the result is a community room capable of seating up to 24 people.
The remodel also included an investment center office and four
additional offices for future growth. From start to finish, the project
took eight months.
Historic photos were incorporated as part of the interior design
plan. An old streetscape of the city was reproduced on vinyl and hung
on the window of one of the offices. The office’s occupant can see out,
but the public can’t see in.
The bank currently has $105 million in assets and $90 million in
deposits. Both Fryk and Schueler acknowledged that the 26 FTE employees
were an integral part of the design team.
Fryk, who often attends celebrations for La Macchia’s finished projects, was
surprised at the community reaction during the ribbon cutting. “They had a lot
of pride,” he said. “This was their bank.”
