 
Cross Plains Marks Centennial

CROSS PLAINS—The State Bank of Cross Plains began a year of celebration in honor of its centennial with a ceremony and breakfast in January. Guests included State Sen. John Erpenbach, representatives from the offices of other elected officials, and Daryll Lund, CBW president and CEO.
Comments by Charles Saeman, bank president, and Lee Swanson, board chairman, traced the bank’s history since opening during another presidential election year, 1908. Saeman noted that the bank started with assets of $15,000 and today has assets of $635 million.
Swanson stated that the bank has “a culture of taking care of people” and tries “to engender this culture in every new community we enter.”
Mike Schutz, president of the Village of Cross Plains, observed, “This community is what it is today because of the bank.”
The State Bank of Cross Plains is also commemorating its milestone with a calendar, cookbook, historical booklet, and lobby displays.
